Visa Support Letters

In order to enter Japan, IUI-2018 attendees must comply with the conditions of their visas and authorisations of eligibility. Visa exemptions can be made for citizens of 66 countries (EU countries, Australia, Canada, Israel, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, USA, and more) provided that the stay is within 90 days and the attendee does not engage in paid activities.

Nationals of countries that do not have visa exemption arrangements with Japan must obtain an entry visa. IUI-2018 does not issue formal invitation letters for visas to attend the conferences. However, ACM can issue a visa support letter to attendees as well as authors with accepted papers, posters, or members of the conference committee.

For visa support letters, please send all requests to the Office of SIG Services, supportletters@acm.org. The information below should be included in the request:

  • Name (as it appears on attendee's passport) and mailing address
  • The name of the conference attendees is registering for, IUI-2018
  • Attendee's registration confirmation number (if available) OR
  • Authors may indicate their paper title. Speakers can provide the title of their talk
  • Email address to which the support letter can be sent

Those requesting a letter should allow 7-10 business days to receive it. All requests will be handled in the order they are received.

If an attendee requests a letter from the organisers (some embassies might require one), please contact the General Chairs of IUI-2018, chairs2018@iui.acm.org.
